I’ve been pretty bad about updating lately so I’m just going to put up pictures from the last month or so to catch back up, then I’ll start writing again. Click the pics for a bigger version.

One of our SECFOR guys making sure the zombies don’t get us

Stopped for a pee break in Sherzad

These kids were trying to sell us some hash
These MaxxPros suck sooo bad. They were designed for urban operations and have very tight suspensions. When you go off road you feel every little bump. And by feel every little bump I mean your head gets jammed in to the ceiling.

Beautiful day to be in the turret

LT chatting up the locals

Cargo donkey

Click for a bigger pic, there are big shiny metal balls hanging from the .50

School assessment

River valley below the school

Kids shooting slingshots at a gatorade bottle

Kids and their slingshots. I bought one for $1

Clinic at Torkham Gate

Another clinic in Mohmand Dara

Kid with a tooth infection. Doc gave him some motrin and antibiotics.

Got a little too close to the edge…

It looks much worse than it really was…

Figuring out the best way to unfuck the truck

Reid in the turret

A whole lot of sexy

I saved a couple of your photos that I thought would make good paintings – you have great light and color – especially in the donkey photo. The photo of you would be good, but you are a bit too far away for detail.
Did the driver of the truck get in much trouble?

Mike:
Wow – looks like the vehicle is a little too wide for the road. Thanks for the update.

Lou: Glad you liked the pictures. If you click on them I think you can get the full-size versions from Picasa. If you can’t let me know and I’ll email you full-size ones.
Eric: The road was falling away on that side. They are still building the retaining wall on that side, they were actually out there working that day. Once that’s finished we’ll be able to get MRAPs through ok.
Walter: Zombies are nothing to laugh at.

It’s good to see you back. The pictures are very nice ,but it’s crazy that kids that young are selling drugs.

Mike: Glad to hear from you again. I really enjoy the scenery. It’s neat to get to see the terrain from your point of view. Hey, take care of yourself, you and your team have been in my prayers.
P. S. Hope you got the truck “un-fucked up”. (haha)

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Some of the pictures are beautiful, almost peaceful, but we all know that isn’t always the case. Your mom is very proud of you, I spoke with her about you the other day after meeting her for the first time at work. You are in my prayers. Stay safe.
