Kid Videos

Posted June 15th, 2009 by Mike

Took me a little while to get around to it, but here are the videos of kids I’ve taken here.

This one is at a school here in Jalalabad, we were walking back to the trucks and I was trying to get the kids to steal Cal’s pen.

This is one of our Civil Affairs guys spraying some kids with silly string.

Took this one walking through a school in the Shinwar district.

Took this one of some kid trying to trade me a potato down in the Achin district.

Some excited kids outside a school near Jalalabad.

This was up in the Dari Nor district outside a new school we were building there. The soldier in the video has his viewfinder turned to face the kids so they can see themselves.

Some kids saying the alphabet in a school just outside of Jalalabad.

The rest of the videos I have don’t fit in to a set theme so I’ll stick them all in one post soon.

    Mike and Everyone,

    Nice job!
Gives me goose bumps every time I see our military personnel and ISAF interacting with the Afghans, and most especially the children.

A future for this country or any country under oppression is through its children.

The American people and the world need to see this humanitarian interaction. It’s the story most major networks don’t want to tell. Not as “titillating” as bombs and body counts.

That’s why our film companies ARE going to tell this story.

“Outside the Wire: The Forgotten Children of Afghanistan” will be completed and ready for the market in the Fall.

Please urge all of your readers/viewers to visit the following:

Please urge everyone you know to link these sites and help us get the word out on this upcoming film that gives the military, their families and all peace loving people their respect and due.

    Stay safe!

Those are AMAZING! It’s really so hard to have loved ones over there but seeing these kids makes it just a tiny bit easier. Thanks so much for posting them. Really, incredible.

I just came across your blog while I was googling for a sleeping monkey pic and saw this video. It is just wonderful to see you all protecting, respecting, and enjoying the culture and the people there. I wish you all the best. Be safe, be kind, and may god protect you and your boys every second of the days to come.
