My name is Mike and I’m a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. I started Combat Skills Training in August 2008 in preparation for a 9 month deployment to Afghanistan. The purpose of this blog is to document my experiences both in training and while deployed to a combat zone. Although I’m a desk jockey in the Air Force, I am filling an Army tasking to provide communications support for a Provincial Reconstruction Team including both on FOB Finley-Shields and out on convoys. The team I’m with is the Nangarhar Provincial Reconstruction team based in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
